Xmas comes early for Irish Broadband customers

Irish Broadband is to upgrade some of its customers’ connections from 1MB to 2MB at no cost, the company announced today. The upgrade applies to business and residential consumers using the wireless provider’s Breeze product.

The company said it could implement the upgrades because it had recently completed a €13m build-out of its network, which more than doubled its nationwide broadband network and expanded its capacity and coverage.

According to Orla Carroll, head of marketing with Irish Broadband, the company’s Breeze product customers can also avail of improved contention ratios, which refers to the number of users sharing the same link. “We’ve upgraded the speeds of all our Breeze products, business and residential, by between 20pc and 50pc over the last two months depending on the product the customer was previously on,” she said.

The company also recently launched new products to complement its Breeze suite. The first of these is called Irish Broadband Go!, comprising a mobile broadband data card for a laptop, priced at a fixed monthly fee. The second is a voice over IP service called Irish Broadband Talk that lets customers save on their landline bills by making calls over the internet at an average of less than 2c per minute.
