10 memes just for business analysts

31 Mar 2015

This week’s career memes salute business analysts, the individuals who identify the challenges within an organisation and the solutions.

What they do: Investigate an organisation’s activities, identify areas in need of improvement, uncover solutions and make recommendations upon using computers to conduct research and analysis, test and/or develop systems, train staff on new systems.

What they don’t do: Work alone. This is very much a role that requires working with colleagues.

Educational requirements: At least a bachelor’s degree in business administration, though an MBA business degree would be ideal for those wanting to enter this profession.

Required skills: Pro-active, self-motivated, ability to solve problems, meet deadlines and work under pressure, excellent analytical, communication and leadership skills, high level of business acumen, maths ability and IT skills, and solid ability to understand the needs and wants of customers.

Salary: In Ireland, a business analyst can expect to earn an annual salary of €43,241, according to PayScale.com.
