300 jobs for mid-west through Vistakon Ireland expansion

14 Jan 2013

Vistakon Ireland will expand its operations in the mid-west of Ireland, creating 100 production jobs and 200 temporary construction jobs, Ireland’s Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD, and the Minister for Finance Michael Noonan, TD, have announced.

The investment of more than €100m is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

The expansion of Vistakon’s existing manufacturing facility in the National Technology Park, Limerick, will require 18 months of construction, creating 200 temporary positions, while more than 100 new highly skilled jobs will be created for third-level graduates.

Recruitment for these new positions is expected to be complete by mid-year.

Vistakon Ireland (where Acuvue disposable contact lenses are designed, manufactured and marketed) was established in Limerick in 1996. One of several Johnson & Johnson companies operating in Ireland, the company currently employs 1,900 people.

“Limerick was chosen for this strategically important investment because of its track record over many years in providing quality products and excellent customer service to markets around the globe,” said Paul Connolly, a vice-president of manufacturing in the company’s global supply chain.
