Pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly has kicked off a recruitment campaign to fill 100 jobs in Ireland, investment promotion agency IDA Ireland has revealed.
Eli Lilly has four Irish operations, in Dublin, Cork, Sligo and Kinsale, Co Cork. Vacancies in Kinsale include scientific, engineering, and operations roles.
“This is a further vote of confidence in the Government, Ireland and the pharma cluster in Cork,” said Séan Sherlock, TD, Minister of State for Research and Innovation.
Eli Lilly chose to establish a base in Ireland more than 30 years ago for several reasons, IDA Ireland said, with one of the main ones being the world-class pharma infrastructure in the country.
Eli Lilly’s recruitment campaign follows jobs announcements by other pharmaceutical firms, namely Regeneron and Alexion Pharmaceuticals.
Regeneron had revealed the creation of 300 jobs in Limerick in December, and Alexion Pharmaceuticals just recently revealed 200 jobs in Dublin.
Eli Lilly medicines treat cancer, diabetes, depression, osteoporosis, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and many other illnesses.
