Support specialist from India leaves New Delhi behind for Dublin’s Information Mosaic

23 Sep 2014

Aditi Johar, support specialist at Information Mosaic, tells us why she chose Ireland as a place to live and work, leaving behind the fast pace of New Delhi.

Where are you from?

I am originally from New Delhi, India and was living there since I was born. Delhi is a nice place to live but it’s too fast-paced, everyone seems to be busy in themselves and you have to cope with that.

How long have you been in Ireland?

It has been one-and-a-half months now.

Why did you move here?

It was a company offer given to a team member to relocate here for six months and train and work with the other members of the team in Dublin. I thought I would take the chance since it would be a great experience to live on my own in a new country, meet new people and also to work with them. It could give a boost to my career as well.

What work do you do?

I am a support specialist working on the client support team at Information Mosaic.

How would you describe your working environment?

It could not be better! Although it’s the same company and it’s just that we have two branches in different countries, there is a lot more to it. Coming to Dublin has been a whole new cultural experience for me, which is fabulous. The people are very humble and co-operative both in and out of work. The work-life balance is awesome, two.

What do you like most about your job?

The most interesting thing about my job is to learn about the product from a business perspective and we get to interact with different clients for their day-to-day issues, which is an experience in itself!

Was it difficult to adjust to living and working in Ireland?

Initially, I experienced some home sickness and the adjustment to the weather and adaptation to the culture took a while, but that just lasted for about a week, which I think is pretty normal. There was no other major problem that I faced, thanks to Information Mosaic providing almost every facility possible.

What surprised you about moving to Ireland?

Nothing, just that I would be cooking by myself and travelling a new country.

How does your working life help to make you feel at home here?

I think people here understand the importance of work-life balance and so they respect it more. At no time would they intervene in your personal life and ask you to stay for long in the office, unless it is something important for a client.

What do you like most about your adopted home?

It has everything possible! I just miss my family; otherwise, it’s just perfect.
