FireEye’s secure careers in Dublin (video)

1 Dec 2014

In our Look Inside series, Tom Keating, managing director of the Ireland R&D operations at FireEye, reveals what roles the company is looking to fill in 2015.

FireEye, which acquired Mandiant in 2013, is going through some changes, as Keating explains.

“FireEye is protecting organisations’ most valuable assets, through an underpinning technology that we have created which fundamentally changes how we look at threats,” says Keating, whose company can both spot existing hazards and identify and catch new cyber-risks.

As FireEye expands amid a boom time for cybersecurity, Keating and his team are looking at three key profiles to recruit from in the coming year – build engineers, performance engineers and the area of globalisation.

Problem solving is an attribute Keating recommends job-seekers across the board focus on. “For example, too many people in software might look to see what is the language of the moment – let’s say C, Java or Python. Now, that’s very important, but that’s just an implementation.

“Where candidates need to focus on, when they are coming into an organisation (particularly at interview stage), is showing that they are going to solve problems, that they are going to help a company solve problems.”

The Look Inside video series offers an insight into our Featured Employers and the types of roles and candidates that companies are looking for.
