Dell creates 100 new engineering jobs in Limerick

23 Apr 2015

Dell is to create 100 new highly-skilled engineering jobs at its Limerick operation to drive the company’s global digital transformation.

The development builds on 60 commerce R&D roles that were created in Dublin in October.

The Limerick-based R&D team will work closely with the R&D team based in Cherrywood, Co Dublin, as well as with IT colleagues located across the globe

The latest investment, announced by Finance Minister Michael Noonan TD in Limerick this morning, will focus on Dell’s transformation of end-to-end sales, customer and partner experience.

IDA Ireland’s CEO Martin Shanahan said that the investment is a sign of the quality of talent emerging from third level institutions across Limerick and the mid-west region, which is in turn attracting some of the best companies in the world to locate there.

High availability of technical talent in Ireland

“We know that the level of technical talent in Ireland is great and we’re excited to tap into it, augmenting the existing talent that we have here already,” said Dell’s chief information officer Paul Walsh.

“Today’s announcement represents a significant milestone in our plan for Ireland to become a central development hub for Dell’s Innovation Technology team. As a global end-to-end solutions provider, we have the ability to quickly meet the evolving needs of our customers. The efforts of the IT team in Ireland will serve a critical role in driving our Dell IT innovation efforts and positioning Dell as a true end-to-end IT solutions provider.”

With the creation of the two centres in Limerick and Cherrywood, Ireland will become a central development hub for Dell’s Innovation Technology team.

“It’s a testament to the highly-skilled talent available in Ireland that we’re continuing to invest in the region,” said Aongus Hegarty, president of Dell EMEA.

“Today’s announcement underscores Dell’s commitment to our operations in Ireland and highlights the significant role that our people in Limerick, Cork and Dublin play within our global business.”
