Ophthalmic company Moss Vision sees Roscommon town as the hub for its latest manufacturing facility, announcing it is to create 50 jobs to produce its range of intraocular lenses for the ophthalmic industry, and hyaluronic acid-based viscoelastic for the manufacture of dermal fillers.
The 50 jobs will be created at the new facility in the IDA Business Park, Roscommon, with products manufactured there to be distributed throughout Europe and worldwide.
The facility will also act as a sales and marketing centre for Europe and beyond, as well as its distribution point.
Speaking at the announcement, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, welcomed the news, as it shows that job creation is happening in counties other than the larger ones.
“Jobs are growing in every region of the country, but they are growing faster in some areas than in others,” said Minister Bruton. “At the heart of our jobs plan is accelerating that employment growth in every county of the country, and we are putting in place regional Action Plans for Jobs to deliver on that. IDA has a major part to play in that, and today’s announcement that Moss Vision is creating 50 extra jobs in Roscommon town is a great boost for Roscommon and the entire West region.”
Moss Vision’s chairman and managing director, Mehul Asnani, added: “This investment allows us to meet the demands of our growing business and take advantage of the high quality of talent available.” In fact, he said, the company’s initial start-up experience has been so positive that the company is exploring additional opportunities to base in Ireland in the medium term.
