35 cybersecurity jobs in Cork as Barricade expands

3 Jul 2015

A Cork start-up is increasing its workforce from 10 right up to 45 by the end of the year, with the business just seven months old.

Based in Cork’s Airport Business Park, Barricade provides intrusion protection to its customers, identifying potential security threats and acting as an early warning system against attempts at breaching server security.

Barricade is launching a new product next week called ‘data breach as a service’, when the full announcement will be made.

“We have managed to put together a world-class team of developers in Cork and look forward to building that team further after unveiling our product next week,” said David Collier, who created Barricade.

The company’s backers include Frontline Ventures, Tribal Ventures, The SaaS Syndicate, Business Switch, Jonathan Siegel, Dave Concannon, Niall Harbison, Eamon Leonard and Max Claussen.

“All over Ireland now we are producing great indigenous tech companies that are taking on world markets,” said Collier in The Irish Times.

“The security sector has been left behind in terms of design as it has struggled to meet global threats and challenges. For now we’re working on servers, but in the future, we are going to be on any device. The internet of things is coming rapidly.”
