The biggest independent brewing company in Ireland, Rye River Brewing Company, is to create 100 new manufacturing and management jobs plus 150 construction jobs at a new craft brewery and visitor centre in Kildare.

The expansion will be worth an extra €12.5m to the local economy per year.

The new manufacturing facility will treble production of the company’s beer and cider products.

The new brewery plan and visitor centre is targeted to open in late spring 2016, subject to planning permission.

Established by Niall Phelan, Alan Wolfe and Tom Cronin in 2013, the company currently employs 54 people in Kilcock, Co Kildare.

In just two years, Rye River Brewing Company has grown to produce 15 beer brands and distributes imported brands such as Bavaria and San Miguel.

“Our production capability will treble to 7m litres from the current 2m litres as we have outgrown our current brewery and, importantly, the investment will help us maintain the quality of our award-winning Irish craft beers that have helped to drive our expansion abroad,” founder Phelan said.
