8 top employers hiring engineers right now

We’re midway through Engineers Week, the Engineers Ireland event designed to spark enthusiasm about engineering of all kinds in people of all ages. An enthusiasm for engineering can eventually lead to a career in the area, but where are the jobs?

In recent years, engineering has become almost synonymous with tech. Endless articles and op-eds focus on the role of the engineer in the sector, and careers in engineering are plentiful across a huge range of disciplines.

Sometimes, the challenge isn’t in finding engineering roles, but in wading through the sheer number of jobs on offer.

Knowing where to start looking can be a struggle, so we’ve made an effort to narrow the field a little. Each of the following companies is a top employer of engineering talent:

Accenture

Accenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, with offices in Dublin.

Problem-solving skills are important for any role at Accenture, as are motivation, an interest in teamwork and experience with client relations.

Accenture is currently hiring for research engineers and engineers to work in the company’s new Centre for Innovation.

AOL

AOL is a household name, but perhaps few know what the company actually does – it’s a brand company and content creator, growing and investing in well-known consumer brands and creating digital advertising solutions that help advertisers connect with those brands’ audiences.

Dublin is AOL’s European development hub, and it works alongside sister development sites around the world.

AOL is currently hiring for software and DevOps engineers, among other roles.

Asavie

Asavie is at the at cutting edge of the internet of things (IoT), providing cloud-delivered connectivity services that help IoT companies bring products rapidly to market.

The Irish company, headquartered in Dublin, has operations in the UK, US and Spain.

Having recently announced 106 new roles in the Dublin office, Asavie is currently hiring for operations, platform service and senior software engineers.

Fidelity Investments

Fidelity Investments is an online trading brokerage and multinational financial services company, with offices in Dublin and Galway.

The company develops a broad range of technology capabilities for businesses, and offers a number of different services – from data analytics to solutions building – to clients.

Fidelity is currently hiring for database, support and QA engineers, among others.

Intel

Intel is a globally-recognised chip manufacturer, best known as the company behind the processors that power your computer.

It should come as no surprise that Intel – a renowned tech manufacturer – requires a whole host of engineers.

With operations in Cork, Shannon and Kildare, Intel is currently hiring for a range of engineering roles from testing to software development.

Pramerica

Pramerica, the business and technology operations subsidiary of US-based Prudential Financial, operates from Letterkenny, Co Donegal.

A dedicated software development group at Pramerica works on a wide range of technology, from client services to the integration of legacy systems and more modern technologies.

Pramerica is currently hiring for systems, operations and platform engineers, among others.

U-blox

U-blox is a Swiss-headquartered supplier of chips and modules for wireless communication and positioning, heavily focused on creating solutions for IoT.

The company works in the areas of connected vehicles, cities and industry, making it easier and more secure to connect products to the internet of things.

U-blox is currently hiring engineers for its Cork operation.

Version 1

Version 1 is one of Ireland’s homegrown success stories. The IT services company has grown exponentially over the last number of years and now boasts offices in Dublin, Cork, Belfast and throughout the UK.

Delivering technology-based solutions to a wide range of clients, the company works across technologies to provide the best service.

Version 1 is currently hiring for network engineers.
