“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to not stop questioning.” That quote attributed to theoretical physicist Albert Einstein can hold true for anyone in any profession, but particularly scientists, who star in this week’s career memes.
Questions are the launchpads to scientists’ research and studies into why things are the way they are, why things happen, and how they happen. Questions lead scientists to make predictions as to what will happen and formulate theories that can be tested.
Scientist jobs lie across several fields, both literally and figuratively. They can work in physics, biology, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals, for example. Their workspaces can consist of a traditional office, a laboratory, the outdoors, or all three.
Scientists also invent things, from new pharmaceuticals for drug companies to propellants for rockets and ammunition.
Students interested in pursuing a career as a scientist should possess curiosity about the world around them and have a solid background in maths and science.
