Dr Colm McLaughlin has joined UCD Business Schools as a lecturer in industrial relations and human resource management. In his new role, he will be responsible for lecturing undergraduate students at UCD Quinn School on employment relations and Irish social partnership and post-graduate students at UCD Smurfit School on the theory and practice of industrial relations. He will also supervise PhD students. McLaughlin joins the school from his position at the Centre for Business Research, Judge Business School at University of Cambridge. In this role, he examined Irish Social Partnership from an international comparative perspective. In his new role, McLaughlin will continue to work on an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)-funded project on gender equity and corporate governance in conjunction with University of Cambridge. McLaughlin has a PhD from Judge Business School at University of Cambridge and is an MComm and BA graduate of University of Auckland, where he also held an academic position. Prior to undertaking his doctorate, McLaughlin held management positions within local government in the UK and in the New Zealand hospitality industry.
