Microsoft has been listed as the best large company to work for in Ireland for the fourth year in a row, with Google coming second and EMC Information Systems coming fourth, according to the Great Place to Work study.
The study was part of The Great Place to Work Awards, which conducts a comprehensive study of Ireland’s workplace culture, highlighting organisations that create and maintain an environment of trust in the workplace.
The top 5 large workplaces in Ireland were Microsoft, Google Ireland, PepsiCo Ireland, EMC Information Systems and McDonald’s Restaurants of Ireland.
Telefonica Ireland came sixth in the best large workplaces list and Dell Ireland came seventh.
Construction technology company HILTI won the first-ever best small workplace award, followed by Ecclesiastical Insurance and Grunenthal Pharma. Estate agents Jones Lang LaSalle won best medium-size company.
EMC Ireland’s VP and managing director Bob Savage was named Ireland’s most trusted leader and was awarded at the 10th annual Great Place to Work Best Workplace Awards, a gala event at the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on Wednesday night.
“When you consider the backdrop in 2011, to gain and in many cases sustain high levels of workplace trust is a wonderful achievement,” said John Ryan, CEO of Great Place to Work Ireland.
“Organisations of all sizes are engaging with the programme and there was a substantial increase in the number of organisations partaking in the Great Place to Work process this year.
“The Best Workplace rankings give progressive organisations a distinct competitive edge as only those that attain the standard make the list.
“More and more organisations are using our methodology to benchmark their people practices and we are particularly pleased to see so many indigenous Irish companies performing so well,” he said.
