IT developer Shane Devane, founder of Freelance Ireland, has announced the relaunch of the online community, which aims to promote freelancers and link them up with potential sources of business.
The Freelance Ireland network now consists of a broad range of online groups, including one of Ireland’s largest small business LinkedIn groups (1,100+ members), newsletters, RSS feeds, a Facebook group and Twitter lists.
“Because of sheer numbers, lack of awareness or the close-knit Irish community, online freelancers spread across Ireland have always had a hard time establishing themselves and getting their name out there,” said Devane. “In one of the surveys on the Freelance Ireland LinkedIn group we found that over 84pc of freelancers based in Ireland get their business from referrals and not directly via online identities.”
“The re-launch of Freelance Ireland focuses on building a community with informative articles aimed at aiding freelancers all across Ireland,” said Devane. New articles are published on the site each week and freelancers are actively encourage to write their own to be promoted on the network and put themselves in touch with over 3,000 unique visitors each month.
“Since January we have been continually growing, the new site structure and mantra have found a home in the hearts of freelancers in Ireland and we intend to build on that to provide work and information to freelancers in Ireland.”
