Scurri.com, the Co Wexford-based online shipping service for e-commerce businesses, has secured a €600,000 investment to focus on expanding into new markets, with the company also planning to create new roles over the next 18 months.
South East Business Innovation Centre (BIC) worked with Scurri.com and the Halo Business Angel Partnership to secure the €600,000 investment, which has come from multiple sources, including private individuals, business angel investors and Enterprise Ireland.
Scurri.com, which is headed up by Rory O’Connor, has come up with a software platform for e-commerce businesses. When they are delivering goods, such e-commerce providers can use Scurri.com’s online management tools to analyse and manage their deliveries by accessing data from their transport providers.
Scurri.com has already taken on four new employees and is planning to take on another six hires by early 2014.
The jobs will be in the areas of design, sales and marketing, and software development. They will be based in Scurri.com’s head office in Duncannon, Co Wexford.
Scurri.com is also planning to use the investment to expand into new markets.
"The business-angel investors have given us that extra boost we needed to continue developing our software platform and start to enter new markets. We are now targeting the UK and hope to expand beyond this into New Zealand and Australia in the next two years," said O’Connor.
