Europe’s largest wind-turbine test site opens

15 Oct 2010

The largest site for turbine prototyping and certification in Europe has opened in the Netherlands, on the grounds of Wageningen University in Lelystad.

The Dutch testing facility, which will be operated by Ecofys, will service the latest-generation turbines with tip heights of up to 200 metres. The site can provide wind-turbine testing services for 10 wind turbines with a combined installed power of 30MW.

The new wind turbine test site in Lelystad will provide the infrastructure, wind measurements and wind turbine measurements required for turbine certification. The accredited measurement services will be provided by Ecofys in collaboration with windtest grevenbroich GmbH.
