As part of the free content on its Planet 3 media platform, mobile operator 3 has added short films made specifically for mobile, provided by Sundance Institute spin-off Mofilm.

Both Pre and Post Pay 3 customers will be able to avail of this service, which will range in genre from comedy to sci-fi, horror and drama, and all films are less than five minutes in length and designed to display best on mobile handset screens.

The content will be ad-supported by pre and post roll advertisements lasting ten seconds.

These ‘made-for-mobile’ short films are the result of Mofilm talent supported by leading filmmakers including Kevin Spacey, Robert Redford, Isabella Rossellini and Spike Lee.

Mofilm is the most recent addition to the Gorillabox streaming video service launched by 3 in May 2009.

The service got 12,000 users in its first three months with an average of 40,000 video streams viewed per month. 75pc of users to date are male with comedy, sport and music the most-viewed genres.
