Telecoms player BT has unveiled a new portfolio of networking services for businesses, including a symmetric business broadband technology called Ethernet in the First Mile.

Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) allows businesses to combine multiple Ethernet-based services with a single connection at sites that could only be reached by legacy technologies.

BT said EFM etherways will be available at 85 locations across the Republic of Ireland linked to LLU exchanges.

“Since launching our original portfolio in March last year, we have seen customers who updated their network transform their network performance, making major improvements in efficiency and output through our suite of services,” said BT Ireland managing director of Business Shay Walsh.

“The addition of EFM now offers our customers even more intelligent networking access options, enabling them to avail of the existing service levels and traffic prioritisation features at more of their sites,” Walsh said.
