Complete Telecom secures €160k deal with Dept of Comms

Irish-owned Complete Telecom has successfully obtained a €160,000 contract to provide high availability telecoms connectivity to the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources’ three sites, covering Dublin and Cavan.

Complete Telecom’s contract of reliable, high-bandwidth network connectivity to the department’s 270 users includes the delivery of two high-speed links with a capacity of 2 x Gigabit/sec to the Dublin sites at Adelaide Road and Beggars Bush.

This will assist the GSI in conducting its current widespread sea-bed survey involving the gathering of data which requires high-capacity Gigabit links.

The spokesman for the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources said, “The department recognises that telecoms costs are continually reducing and bandwidth speeds are continually increasing. We continually use this fact as an opportunity to go out to the market to secure the most competitive prices available.”

Disaster recovery planning

“On this occasion, Complete Telecom’s proposal was successful in delivering high-speed and high-capacity bandwidth to our users at the most cost-effective price.” The contract also plays an imperative role in disaster recovery planning.

Complete Telecom will also supply a 10 Mbit link to the department’s office in Cavan, which will be beneficial for its 50 users, and aid the network as it acts as a carrier for a mixture of file, print and email traffic.

“Our national fibre optic next-generation network is an ideal platform for the department’s requirements,” said Neil Wisdom, sales and marketing director for Complete Telecom.
