After being taken down for the second time in two weeks, Eircom’s DNS servers are fully operational, but the company has warned that some users may still have difficulty browsing the web.
Eircom last night said that Eircom.net is fully operational for customers who are browing the web.
“Eircom once again apologises for the inconveniences caused to our customers during the past number of days.
Last week, Eircom confirmed that there was a domain name server (DNS) outage on its website after users complained they were being redirected to bogus sites, leading to speculation the company’s server has been hacked. The company said that “unusual and irregular” traffic was to blame.
But on Monday users were once again complaining they could not get internet access or were suffering delays in browsing. The company said the outages were related to an unprecedented volume of traffic deliberately directed at its network.
“Some customers may still have difficulties accessing certain websites. We advise that users re-type the correct website address into their browser to ensure they can surf freely,” the company said last night.
