Eircom experiencing issues nationwide on landline and mobile services (updated)

2 Sep 2015

Eircom and Meteor customers nationwide are finding themselves without service in many cases on their ISDN landlines and mobile services.

To make matters worse, those calling the Eircom support team are finding that their calls are not being connected and being sent straight to voicemail.

The issues began just before 10am this morning and are, for the most part, affecting those using its business services, but they have also affected mobile customers attempting to ring certain numbers.

The statement posted online said: “We have been advised that an intermittent issue on part of our core telephony network is impacting some businesses that use 1800 and 1500 numbers or some members of the public who are trying to call those numbers.

“Customers with ISDN lines are also effected whereby they cannot make calls. Calls from eMobile or Meteor network to 1890 260 260, Broadband Tech Support team or to 1800 numbers will receive a message saying we cannot connect your call. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as we can and will keep you updated here.”

The issue has affected hundreds of businesses across the country, with many taking to social media to alert their customers that their customer care numbers aren’t working, much to customers’ annoyance.

The company said its currently working to get the issue resolved and will update when the service has been restored.

Update 02/09/2015 16:20: Eircom has since released an update saying that numbers using the Dublin 01 prefix have returned to normal, albeit with a “slightly reduced capacity”. It has also offered a list of numbers for people to contact that do not use the freephone service, which will charge those making the calls.
