Energis breaks through 100 million call barrier

Ireland and UK technology and telecoms company Energis today claimed to have broken the 100 million call barrier, reckoning it carried at least 20 calls for every Irish resident last year – the equivalent of every Irish person spending at least an hour on an Energis-hosted call.

Energis provides voice and data services to businesses and public institutions across Ireland and the UK. Major customers of the company include the BBC, Boots, Royal & SunAlliance, Tesco, Wanadoo and the UK Government.

Conal Henry, general manager of the company, said that the figures showed that Energis meant business in Ireland.

“Across Europe business is battling with the poor service and high prices of a monopoly telecoms provider. Ireland suffers more than others, being the only country in the EU dominated by two state monopolies.

“Energis provides businesses and carriers with a lower cost and a better service than Eircom and BT and more and more Irish businesses are getting wise to this,” Henry said.
