Ploughing Championships go mobile

13 Sep 2007

Visitors to the National Ploughing Championships will be able to connect wirelessly to the web.

IFA Telecom and its wireless partner OmniTel Broadband are providing a broadband service to exhibitors and visitors during the championships which take place in Tullamore from 25 to 27 September.

A 6MB up and down connection will be available to facilitate the large media attendance expected at the event.

“We are delighted that OmniTel can provide broadband throughout the venue for exhibitors and visitors. Broadband has become an essential tool for the farming communities throughout rural Ireland,” commented Anna May Mc Hugh, managing director of the National Ploughing Association.

Exhibitors interested in accessing the service at the event should register in advance by phoning OmniTel Broadband at 1890 943666 or mailing mark@omnitel.ie. Technical staff will be available to setup connections onsite and will provide support throughout the event.

The IFA Consortium (OmniTel, IFA Telecom and Motorola) was recently shortlisted in the Government’s National Broadband Scheme to provide broadband to the remaining areas currently unserved by broadband in the Republic of Ireland.

OmniTel provides wireless broadband internet access throughout the south-east of Ireland to residential, farming and business communities.
