Deal will allow BT to process Tesco Mobile calls all over the world.

Tesco Mobile has signed a €10m contract with BT to provide international calls, or “voice termination”, to the latter’s customers.

The deal builds on an existing relationship between the two companies, which goes back 10 years.

BT’s international network carries more than 12bn minutes of wholesale voice globally per year.

Growing retail market share

Tesco Mobile now has 7.7pc market share in Ireland.

“This deal is a culmination of our successful relationship built with BT over the last 10 years,” said Geoff Byrne, chief operating officer of Tesco Ireland.

“BT provide a resilient network solution and excellent service and we look forward to continuing to work with them into the future.”
