UPC launches ‘symmetrical bandwidth’ product for businesses

8 Aug 2013

Cable broadband player UPC has launched a new symmetrical broadband service in Ireland that delivers 5Mbps and 10Mbps matching upload and download speeds.

The idea is that businesses working with large volumes of data are ensured a consistent and reliable connection.

The symmetrical bandwidth services are provided to businesses over UPC’s Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) network.

The 5Mbps and 10Mbps connections will be priced at €110 and €220 respectively.

“Our innovative ‘Symmetrical Bandwidth’ products will interest any Irish businesses that depend on large volumes of data in their day-to-day business,” said UPC’s business services director Gavan Smyth.

“UPC’s multi-platform and multi-access infrastructure mean that we can offer businesses identical upload and download speeds for data at a really competitive price.”

Last week, UPC reported it added 9,000 subscribers to its fibre-powered broadband, TV and phone services in the second quarter. The company said total subscriptions in Ireland increased by 8pc or 76,400 to 1,021,600.
