7 Mar 2011

Home entertainment and communications company UPC has passed the 200,000 broadband customer mark, the firm announced today.

This represents a year-on-year increase of more than 50,000 customers. New broadband customers signed up to UPC following an intensive marketing campaign which focused on UPC’s Fibre Power Broadband offering.

UPC’s investment of more than €350m to upgrade its cable network has significantly helped increase customer growth.

Building on the company’s expansion of its Fibre Power network across Ireland, UPC offers four broadband tiers to meet the growing demand amongst consumers for speed and value. The Fibre Power Broadband speeds range from the ultrafast top tier 100Mb to 30Mb, 20Mb and 10Mb.

UPC has also witnessed considerable growth in its phone market share, with customer numbers reaching 100,000 phone subscribers, representing 60pc growth year-on-year.

Orla Flynn, broadband and voice product manager at UPC said, “With each passing day, the internet evolves with amazing new applications and experiences, including video, audio, gaming, pictures and more. The one thing they all have in common is a need for faster, more powerful broadband in order to be experienced.

“The growth of our broadband customer base has been phenomenal and this is due to the superior speed and reliability our Fibre Power product delivers.”
