Vodafone overhauls pre-pay rates, reveals new Europe-wide bill-pay tariffs

28 Jul 2016

Vodafone has introduced new billpay rates that let users keep their costs the same as home as they roam through 32 European countries

Vodafone Ireland has introduced a new integrated European tariff under its Red Connect bill-pay service. It has also refreshed its pay-as-you-go tariffs.

Under the new Red Connect bill pay service, Vodafone is launching a new integrated tariff that gives users unlimited calls, data and texts in 32 countries.

Under the plan, a Red Connect SIM will cost €35 for SIM-only on a 12-month contract. This rises to €40 per month for Connect Red Essentials, €60 a month for Vodafone Red Connect and €80 a month for Red Connect Super.

Existing data allowances in users’ home countries will also apply while travelling as part of the new Red Connect Europe-wide tariff.

“Red Connect customers will be able to use their phones in Spain just as they do in Ireland without the need for changing their behaviour because they worry about costs,” Vodafone said.

Vodafone has also announced the launch of a new pay-as-you-go (PAYG) offer called Chat Extra, which gives customers unlimited cross-network calls and texts, and 1GB of 4G data for €20.

Vodafone’s PAYG offers now centre on three key options: €20 Chat Extra and Data Extra, and €30 Extra. All Vodafone PAYG plans now include 4G at no extra cost.

“The introduction of Chat Extra is an exciting addition to our pay-as-you-go portfolio,” said Vodafone Ireland consumer director Lütfu Kitapçi.

“This is a first for Vodafone Ireland and, when coupled with our 90pc 4G coverage, our customers can now use their smartphones to their full capabilities at great value. Our three new plans give customers the freedom to use their devices in ways that best suits their needs,” he added.
