Weather results in Eircom logging nearly 5,000 faults

Nearly 5,000 faults have been reported to telecoms provider Eircom as a result of strong winds and heavy rain across Ireland over recent days, and the company says it has deployed additional repair crews to work on faults around the country.

The areas with the highest fault levels are the north and western coastal counties of Donegal, Sligo, Mayo and Galway and the northeast counties of Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. In the southwest of Ireland, the worst-affected areas are west Cork and Kerry, Eircom said.

“Our repair crews are working hard to repair all faults as quickly as possible,” Eircom said. “We would like to assure all of our customers we are making every possible effort to restore service as soon as possible and we will provide further updates in the coming days.”

Eircom customers can log faults on the “Log a Fault” section of its website or through its automated customer service line, 1901. Faults can be reported to either service 24 hours a day, seven days week.
