Logistics firm DSV is renewing its 12-month €400,000 energy supply deal with Energia to power up eight of DSV’s operations in Ireland with 2.6 gigawatt hours of electricity.

In Ireland, the global logistics firm employs over 400 people and operates under the DSV Road, DSV Air & Sea and DSV Solutions brands.

Under the terms of the deal, Energia will supply electricity to all of DSV’s operations on the island, including its sites in Belfast, Derry, Santry, Swords, Naas, Shannon and in Little Island in Co Cork.

DSV’s health and safety manager Eddie Kelliher said that company chose to renew its energy contract with Energia because of its competitively priced energy.

“They also add significant value by providing us with advisory services on energy efficiency,” he said.

Energia, which is part of Viridian Group, currently has a 28pc all-island market share of the business electricity and gas market. The independent energy supplier has a 25pc market share of the Irish wind generation sector.

In October Energia and the Irish Infrastructure Fund opened two new wind farms in Co Tyrone to add 50.6 megawatts of new wind generation capacity.

At the time, Peter Baillie, managing director at Energia Renewables, said that the company invested €200m in the last two years in more than 100MW of wind farm developments.

Energia is contracting with more than 550MW of operational wind farms in Ireland, and the company has a further 290MW in development.
