Irish telecom company Tango Telecom continues Asian expansion with deal

Tango Telecom, an Irish start-up established in Limerick has announced a new deal to expand its mobile service in Bangladesh with Robi Axiata.

The announcement has been made as part of Enterprise Ireland’s trade missions to Singapore and Malaysia, which are being led by Ireland’s Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton, TD.

Robi Axiata is one of the three largest mobile operators in Bangladesh and supports more than 25m subscribers in the populous nation.

As part of the deal with Tango Telecom, Robi Axiata will work with the Irish company on pricing plans, mobile data packages and optimisation of user data in order to implement it within its network.

Robi Axiata’s chief markets officer, Pradeep Shrivastava, welcomed the announcement, as the company believes Tango Telecom has a lot to offer.

“Tango Telecom is the ideal partner to ensure that Robi continues to lead the way for innovative subscriber-centric services while maximising our mobile data revenues and ensuring our subscribers stay happy and loyal.”

Good for Irish business

Bruton attended the official announcement and spoke about how the deal is great for Irish business as a whole.

“Tango Telecom is a great example of a dynamic, innovative Irish company seeking to sell its quality product in export markets.

“Securing this deal with Robi Axiata is a great achievement for the company and is a testament to the quality of their product. We have sought to support companies like Tango Telecom through our Action Plan for Jobs, and I wish them every continued success.”

Founded in 1999, Tango Telecom has expanded to other regional offices across the globe, particularly in Asia, and has worked with other telecom networks, such as Telefónica O2, Vodafone and the Airtel Group.
