Hardware developer Nvidia has posted a record revenue of US$1.23bn for its fiscal third quarter, representing a 16pc rise from the same period last year.
Takings for the first three quarters of the fiscal year was also a record, with the company posting a revenue of US$3.43bn, up 15pc from last year’s US$2.99bn.
The California-based firm also recently launched its flagship GeForce GTX Graphics processing unit based on its Maxwell product.
“Nvidia’s focus on creating visual computing platforms for data centre, mobile and PC drove record revenue this quarter,” said company president and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang in a statement.
“Growth drivers have kicked in for us on several fronts. High-performance computing, virtualisation and web service providers have created demand for our GPU-accelerated data-centre platforms.
“Automakers are using (system on a chip series) Tegra to help reinvent the driving experience. And our new Maxwell architecture is a giant leap forward that has triggered a major upgrade cycle by PC gamers.”
Nvidia also reported that 6m cars on the road now feature infotainment systems powered by its technology.
