AIB has confirmed 170 IT workers are to be transferred to three IT outsourcing providers, including Eircom, Wipro and Integrity.

AIB earlier today briefed staff at a meeting in a Dublin hotel.

It is understood that no redundancies will be made among the IT workers.

The outsourcing arrangement is understood to have been made under a cost reduction strategy entitled ‘Project Orion.’

A review of IT services at the bank is understood to be ongoing.

The outsourcing arrangement was made in collaboration with the unions and in partnership with staff.

The staff will become employees of the respective outsourcing providers.

“AIB today confirmed that it is entering a process of consultation with employee representatives to discuss the bank’s plans to outsource a number of its IT services to Eircom, Integrity and Wipro,” a spokesperson said.

“We also briefed that 170 jobs would transfer to the new partners and that there were no redundancies.”
