Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg is to join the board of SurveyMonkey, the company led by her late husband David Goldberg.

Facebook’s chief operations officer Sheryl Sandberg has joined the board of SurveyMonkey, the company that was led by her late husband David Goldberg.

Goldberg passed away suddenly in May following a fall on a treadmill. In just eight years, he grew SurveyMonkey from a staff of 145 to more than 550 employees and a valuation of US$2bn.

“Ever since Dave joined SurveyMonkey six years ago, I watched him and his team execute on their mission to help people make better decisions,” said Sandberg.

“I’m looking forward to working with the board and this amazing team to help realise Dave’s vision of building a lasting company that will impact the way we all do business for years to come.”

SurveyMonkey also announced that Zander Lurie, the company’s temporary executive chairman, has been named as the permanent chairman of the board. Lurie will also continue to serve as senior vice president at GoPro.

Also joining the board of SurveyMonkey will be David Ebersman, CEO of Lyra Health.

“I have always admired SurveyMonkey for its groundbreaking products and innovative roots as one of the world’s first software-as-a-service platforms,” said Ebersman.

Last year, SurveyMonkey announced plans to create 50 new jobs in Dublin at a new international headquarters.
