Thomas Hansen, Microsoft’s former worldwide vice president of small and medium business, is joining Dropbox in August.

Hansen’s new role will be ‘global vice president of sales & channel’, which will see him lead the Dropbox for Business direct sales and channel teams, as well as its customer success team.

His Microsoft role saw him working in an environment full of small and medium businesses, 100 million actually, with a prior role in a similar position in Dell as well.

“Thomas understands how to meet the needs of millions of customers all over the globe,” reads a Dropbox blog post on the appointment.

“We’re scaling at an extraordinary pace, and Thomas’ insights will help us accelerate Dropbox adoption even further.”

Headquartered in San Francisco – with offices in Austin, Dublin, Herzliya, London, New York, Paris, Seattle, Sydney, and Tokyo – Dropbox says it has more than 400m users, which are supported in more than 200 countries.

“We have a huge opportunity ahead of us, and we’re building an incredible team to go after it,” said the company.

“With 100,000 organisations of all sizes already using Dropbox for Business… it’s an exciting time to join. Welcome, Thomas!”
