22 jobs created at Arconics after deal with Qatar Airways

8 Sep 2015

Irish software company Arconics has announced that 22 jobs are to be created following the signing of a 10-year deal with Qatar Airways to provide its document management system.

The Arconics document management system (DMS) in question, AeroDocs, will now be used by Qatar Airways to allow it to manage its aircraft manuals and operational documentation on board the aircraft using an iPad.

The deal signed with Qatar Airways is believed to be worth in the region of US$6.7m to Arconics, with the 22 jobs to be created to be highly-skilled roles in software development, marketing and operations management.

The deal will mean that Arconics will provide the AeroDocs software to all group companies, including Qatar Airways, Qatar Cargo, Qatar Executive and Qatar Amiri Flight.

The AeroDocs software is compatible with both Airbus and Boeing aircraft models, two of the dominant aircraft manufacturers providing aircraft to the world’s airlines.

The addition of XML functionality, Arconics said, ensures that pilots get to use powerful features, including advanced search and storage of annotations and highlights.

“We have been very lucky finding top talent, as we use cutting-edge mobile and satellite technology and face the complex challenges that attract top engineers,” said Arconics’ CEO Niall O’Sullivan.

“Arconics is a good example of an Irish company that is a world leader in a highly-competitive global software market, generating jobs and adding substantial export sales to Ireland’s balance of payments.”
