Bank of America adds fingerprint login and Apple Watch app

17 Sep 2015

Bank of America today (17 September) announced the introduction of fingerprint and Touch ID login to its mobile apps, as well as the release of an Apple Watch app.

The changes to the Bank of America suite of apps come as part of a series of improvements designed to make it easier for customers to manage their finances remotely.

The addition to the mobile app of fingerprint and Touch ID login capabilities will make it easier for Android, iPhone and iPad customers to access their accounts, without the need for yet another access code.

The technology built to support this functionality has been designed to FIDO (Fast Identity Online) standards, adding another layer of security to transactions.

The Apple Watch app will allow customers to sync its Watch with the Bank of America mobile app, enabling them to view their account balances and recent transactions, and receive real-time alerts and notifications without having to reach for their phone.

Other new features rolling out today include the launch of Security Centre – which offers customers more security options – and a redesign of the mobile app interface.
