Cloud infrastructure giant VMware has reported third quarter revenues of S$1.6bn, just as it was confirmed that its parent company EMC is to be acquired by Dell in a historic US$67bn takeover.

Revenues of US$1.67bn are a 10pc increase on the same period last year.

“I’m pleased with our overall Q3 results, with total revenue expected to exceed the high end of our guidance range,” said Jonathan Chadwick, chief financial officer, chief operating officer and executive vice president, VMware.

Licence revenues for the third quarter are expected to be US$681 million, an increase of 7pc from the third quarter of 2014, or an increase of 11pc in constant currency.

In recent weeks, Vmware appointed Irishman Ray O’Farrell as its new CTO.

O’Farrell’s appointment coincided with VMware marking its first decade in Ireland, where it has grown from 10 to 750 employees.
