750 software jobs for Derry

19 Jul 2007

Software services provider Stream International is to create 750 new jobs at its operation in Derry after winning a substantial new contract.

The company would not reveal who the new contract is with, but said that the majority of the new jobs will be based on the contract.

Stream says it will recruit 450 people over the next few months at its state-of-the-art contact centre in Derry.

An additional 300 people will be recruited over the coming year and this will more than double the number of people employed at Stream’s Northern Ireland operation.

It is understood that the jobs will be based initially at the company’s existing offices on Derry’s Buncrana Road but that further premises are planned at the city’s Waterside area.

The company said that the jobs will cover a broad spectrum of activities, including technical support and management roles.

Stream has built its reputation in high-tech vertical markets such as software, hardware, consumer electronics, and online services and was recently entered into the Global Outsourcing 100 by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP).

In 2005 the company assumed management of the ISP Residential Technical Support Services on site at Eircom’s premises in Dublin, taking control of a workforce of 110 people.
