Belfast scientific imaging player Andor Technology plc has acquired Swiss 3D and 4D imaging player Bitplane AG for an undisclosed sum.
Bitplane AG based in Zurich, Switzerland is the world’s leading interactive microscopy image analysis software company specializing in medical and life sciences.
Through constant innovation and a clear focus on 3D & 4D imaging, Bitplane actively shapes the way scientists process microscope imagery.
Imaris, Bitplane’s core software platform, delivers industry-leading functionality for visualization and analysis of 3D and 4D microscopy datasets. Combining speed, precision and ease-of-use, Imaris provides powerful features for processing multi-dimensional datasets from a few megabytes to hundreds of gigabytes in size.
Advanced analysis tools address complex problems ranging from spatial statistics, morphology and interconnectivity to tracking cell movements in living organisms.
The existing management and employees will remain with the business which will continue to trade as Bitplane following completion.
“Bitplane is a world leader in 3D and 4D image analysis software and complements Andor’s existing business, especially the rapidly growing systems division,” Conor Walsh, chief executive of Andor said.
“Bitplane is cash generative, has a history of strong revenue growth and will be immediately earnings enhancing,” Walsh said.
“Andor brings the capacity and systems knowledge to further develop both our customer base and our technology roadmap,” added Dr Marius Messerli, founder of Bitplane.
