Irish Wavebob to collaborate with Spanish Abengoa

Irish ocean wave power company Wavebob and Spanish technology company Abengoa will collaborate on a new project, working on the research, development and commercialisation of wave energy systems, the companies announced.

Enterprise Ireland’s Spanish office helped secure the collaboration.

The companies said the collaboration will take place over at least a six-year period as they try to meet the growing commercial wave energy opportunities in Europe and the US. The companies will collaborate on research, technological development and economic assessment of wave energy locations globally.

117-year-old school invests in €200k ICT network

A 117-year-old school in Dublin’s Booterstown area has invested €200,000 in deploying a state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure.

Having decided to upgrade its network infrastructure, passive and active, wired and wireless, St Andrew’s College commenced a design process with Kedington to determine the optimum solution, balancing functionality, longevity and cost-effectiveness.

As the passive (cable) infrastructure was seen as a 20-year investment, it was decided that a CAT 6A solution, together with a 20-year guarantee from a global manufacturer should be installed. Kedington produced a resilient network design based on this new passive infrastructure for a managed gigabit to desk switching infrastructure and the latest 802.11n Wi-Fi system.
