Vodafone Ireland awards next-gen service project to UK firm
Vodafone’s Irish operations have selected telecoms network specialists System Mechanics to implement a Next Generation Service Assurance system.
Through a combination of software and professional services, it will enable Vodafone Ireland to optimise services for customers over its telecoms network, while enabling proactive fault management and monitoring.
SysMech will manage and co-ordinate all third-party vendors and sub-contractors involved in the project, as the single point of contact for the service assurance solution, delivering the solution on a turnkey basis.
SysMech won the contract against major vendors and systems integrators.
HP acquires ArcSight to align IT assets
Technology giant Hewlett Packard has announced its acquisition of security and compliance management company ArcSight.
The acquisition for $43.50 (€31.20) per share, or an enterprise value of $1.5bn (€1.1bn), will see the company integrate ArcSight’s security portfolio with HP’s IT operations management portfolio.
HP expects this to enable both organisations to converge millions of events across IT operations and security – providing deeper context than either platform alone.
Meteor appoints Highpoint Communications for enhanced network coverage
Meteor has appointed Highpoint Communications Ltd to deliver coverage solutions as part of its national service expansion.
Highpoint will deliver radio coverage deployment sites in areas where sharing with existing infrastructure isn’t possible.
Investment from Highpoint will develop sites to support all mobile operators in providing enhanced quality services around Ireland.
Motorola and Nokia enter into 4G agreement
Motorola and Nokia have entered into a 4G licence agreement, covering patents related to LTE (Long-Term Evolution), WiMax and LTE Advanced.
Both companies extended their existing intellectual property licensing agreement to include 4G cellular technologies. The terms of the agreement are confidential.
“We are pleased to extend our existing IP licensing agreement with Nokia to include 4G technologies and are confident this agreement will help foster continued innovation and technological advancement for the telecommunications industry,” said Kirk Dailey, corporate vice-president of intellectual property, Motorola Mobility, Inc.
