Computer maker Dell is extending its storage and software strategy with the acquisition of backup software technology company AppAssure for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition will help Dell, which has been working on expanding its storage portfolio over the past three years, to enhance its existing storage capabilities.
The company also been striving to help customers manage the growing complexity in IT and the rapid explosion in data.
AppAssure, which offers customers application protection for virtual, physical and cloud infrastructures, also delivers application recovery from customers’ servers to their data centre and their cloud.
Dell plans to keep AppAssure’s approximately 230 employees and will continue to invest in additional engineering and sales capability to grow this business.
