GameStop has signed a new electricity supply contract with Energia. The deal, worth €250,000 annually, will see Energia supply more than two gigawatts to GameStop’s network of 52 stores on the island of Ireland.

GameStop Ireland is part of GameStop Corp. which has more than 4,400 retail stores throughout the US, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Energia Group comprises Energia Supply, Energia Renewables and Energia Generation. It has a 28pc market share of the business electricity and gas market on an all-island basis.

The group has a strong renewable energy focus, with 409MW of operational renewable electricity capacity contracted within its energy portfolio. Energia is also planning a further 440MW of wind farm projects currently in development across Ireland.

It recently signed a preliminary off-take agreement to purchase the electricity generated from the pioneering Wave Energy Converter being operated by US firm Ocean Energy Systems off Belmullet, Co Mayo.
