ESB restores power to more than 13,000 customers

19 Dec 2013

ESB Networks crews and operational staff have worked throughout the night to restore power to more than 13,000 customers affected by storms that swept across Ireland yesterday.

At the height of the storm, more than 25,000 customers were without electricity, ESB said in its Emergency Updates.

“From first light, our crews have been out assessing the overnight damage and continuing get power back to homes and businesses. Power to 3,000 customers in the Donegal area have already been restored this morning,” ESB said.

“However, with new faults due to lightning damage, and other faults that resulted from the overnight storms, 8,000 homes and businesses are now without supply.”

ESB added it expects customers will have their power back today, though some customers may have to wait until 6pm before power is restored.

ESB customers whose power has been cut may go online or download the Powercheck app to their mobile phone to check if the fault has already been logged.

ESB also asks customers to ring the ESB Networks National Customer Care Centre at 1850 372 999 to report any damage to the electricity network, as this will help ESB restore the power supply.
