Google has acquired FameBit, a company that helps YouTube creators to connect with brands and make money.

At its core, FameBit is a service that lets YouTube creators set up sponsorship and partner deals.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

“As brands continue to embrace the value of YouTube, they’re also taking their investments one step further; partnering with creators on branded content opportunities such as product placements, promotions and sponsorships,” YouTube said in a statement.

“As we look to the future, we want even more creators and brands to come together and realise the benefits of these creative collaborations.”

When will I be famous?

The company was founded three years ago by Agnes Kozera and David Kierzkowski and has so far raised $1.5m in two rounds from six investors, including 500 Startups.

The company’s founders said that FameBit will continue to function as a stand-alone operation for the time being, but intends to tap into Google’s relationships with brand creators around the world to make brand marketing more creative and authentic.

“From Hauls to Lookbooks, to Game Plays and Skits, we’ve watched brands and creators collaborate on more than 25,000 branded videos, generating over 2bn minutes of watch time,” Famebit’s founders wrote in its blog.

“Every day we see more brands grow, transform and build closer connections with customers, while helping creators turn passion and influence into successful careers.”
