Irish outsourcing company I.T. Alliance, which employs about 400 people, is investing €1m in a significant UK expansion aimed at capturing a slice of the €15bn UK IT outsourcing market.

I.T. Alliance, which generated revenues in 2009 of about €20m, aims to become a €100m revenue company over the next few years. It already has about 150 people working in the UK.

As part of its UK expansion, the company has hired former HP UK director for public sector sales and 20-year IT industry veteran, Tim Shaw as UK projects & consulting delivery manager, reporting into group consulting director Terence O’Donnell.

The company has also strengthened its senior sales management team in the UK, with the appointment of former Kelway account director, David Senior, and former Vistorm account director, Nigel Rix, as UK account managers. I.T. Alliance has also boosted its virtualisation practice in the UK with the appointment of Roy Burgess as head of its virtualisation team.

As a result of research conducted with the Cranfield School of Management, I.T. Alliance has developed what it calls a Tier-Two Service Alliance (T2SA) outsourcing model. The company has created a niche in the market in which it acts as an outsourcing partner to the world’s major outsourcers.

“The world’s leading outsourcers also need to outsource for the same reasons that major corporations do, including cost and flexibility,” commented Philip Maguire, CEO, I.T. Alliance.

“As a result of the global recession, many of them reduced or put a freeze on resources but now need to ramp up quickly in response to the recovery in the UK and global economies. We are ideally positioned to provide the services required to fulfil their needs,” Maguire said.
