New infographic emphasises Dublin’s digital credentials on an epic scale.

IDA Ireland’s latest infographic ‘Dublin – A Technology Hub’ is a timely reminder of why the capital city of Ireland is a bastion of the European tech scene.

It is one in a series of infographics that IDA Ireland has been producing lately, focusing on themes such as competitiveness and why Ireland is a good place to invest.

With a design layout that is reminiscent of Waze, the mapping app bought by Google, the infographic paints a geographic picture of the tech scene in Dublin.

Maps, apps and legends

At its western limits in Leixlip (just slightly over the county border in Kildare, ahem) is Intel, while west Dublin has a concentration of tech players including IBM, Symantec, eBay, Xilinx, Adobe, SAP and Tech Mahindra.

To the very north of the city are companies such as Siemens and Fujitsu, while the south plays host to Huawei, Microsoft, Dell, Sage and Vodafone.

Right in the centre is where all the activity is concentrated, with players including Wrike, Qualtrics, Salesforce and Slack redefining business software; Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn building social media powerhouses; and Google dominating the largest private sector employer in Dublin, with more than 6,000 people.

Born-on-the-web newcomers such as Twilio, HubSpot, Squarespace and Airbnb feature prominently in the city.

The e-commerce picture is complemented nicely by Nitro, Jet, Zalando, Amazon, Gilt and Groupon.

Meanwhile, the internet of things age is thriving in Dublin thanks to companies such as Daqri, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson and Accenture, to name a few.
