Irish environment and recycling management software company AMCS Group is expanding its footprint in Scandinavia as it has acquired the Swedish software company Wånelid AB Group for an undisclosed sum.
In Sweden, Wånelid provides weighing solutions and services to the environmental and clean-energy industries.
AMCS Group’s employee headcount is set to reach 110 as a result of the acquisition of Wånelid and of Insight Software Solutions in the US last month.
Headquartered in Limerick, AMCS was set up in 2003. The company supplies IT, management and tracking solutions for the recycling and waste-management sectors.
As for Wånelid, it is a family-owned business that has been around for 25 years. CEO Ken Wånelid described the acquisition by AMCS as a "natural step" for the development of the brand and its technologies.
According to AMCS CEO Jimmy Martin, Scandinavia is the most innovative and progressive of the global clean-technology markets.
“Wånelid’s technologies, added to our unique software and vehicle technologies, set us apart in the rapidly growing environmental market. We plan to continue our growth right across the Nordic region and will bring Wånelid proven technologies to our global customers," said Martin.
Last year, AMCS also acquired the UK software company The Solution Works.
