Clomnel-based engineering company Kentz has been awarded a multimillion dollar contract by Qatar Petroleum (QP).

The contract is to provide engineering support services for QP’s offshore operations for plant change requests and engineering studies.

The scope of the project includes all engineering disciplines inclusive of process, mechanical, piping, structural, pipeline, electrical and instrumentation, Kentz said. The project is expected to run for five years and commenced in November 2009.

Kentz was awarded its first project by QP in 1997 and since then has executed a number of engineering, procurement and construction projects on QP’s assets.

It is currently working on the design, procurement and construction of the electrical systems for the Sidra Medical and Research Centre in Doha, which is managed by Qatar Petroleum.

“We are thrilled to have been awarded a further contract by Qatar Petroleum, this time for our engineering support services.  We look forward to contributing to the success of this project and continuing our work with QP across each of our business lines,” said the CEO of Kentz Group, Dr Hugh O’Donnell.
